About
A career that began by accident and continued by choice
My design journey started unexpectedly in 2005. I was studying BCA after coming from a commerce background and working part-time on project-bidding documentation. I had creative curiosity, but no formal design education and no clear route into the field.
While helping my first mentor improve the colours used in website designs, I realised how much I enjoyed shaping visual experiences. I took three days away from work, taught myself HTML and CSS using software documentation, attended an interview and secured my first Junior Web Designer role. That decision changed the direction of my career.
Over the years, new technologies, changing roles, family responsibilities and increasingly complex products repeatedly required me to learn again. I moved from visual website design into responsive interfaces, UX, eCommerce, product customisation, accessibility, design systems and leadership.
Today, I approach design with one belief:
“Good design brings clarity, meaning and accessibility to complex problems.”
I help businesses and their customers solve complex experience challenges through research-driven, accessible and human-centred product design.

Timeline
Nineteen years, one step at a time
2005
An unexpected beginning
I was working part-time on project-bidding documentation to support my family, and found design along the way.
2006
Self-taught foundations
With no formal design education, I followed my curiosity into HTML and CSS and taught myself using software documentation.
2007
First design role
Three days away from work, one interview, and my first Junior Web Designer position on real, shipping products.
2010s
Growing through change
New technologies, family responsibilities and increasingly complex products repeatedly required me to learn again — moving from visual design into product thinking.
2017
Leading customisation experiences
Took ownership of complex personalised-product journeys, reusable patterns and cross-team design quality.
Today
UI/UX Technical Leader
I lead design direction, mentor designers and bridge business, engineering and research with 19+ years of practice.
How I lead
Design quality is a team outcome
Leadership, for me, has never meant moving away from the work. It has meant understanding enough of the product, design and implementation detail to help other people make stronger decisions.
Translating business requirements into product problems
Reviewing UX and visual design
Mentoring designers
Establishing reusable patterns
Protecting responsive consistency
Supporting developer handoff
Reviewing implementation quality
Helping teams work through urgent priorities without treating every deadline as permission to compromise the experience
The goal is not dependency on the lead designer. The goal is a team that gradually needs less correction because its design judgement is getting stronger.
Beyond design
I create with my hands, learn with curiosity, and design with gratitude.
Macrame & handmade creativity
Craft teaches patience. Creating macramé reminds me that complex outcomes are often built from simple elements repeated carefully. Every knot has a relationship with the next. That same attention to sequence, structure and detail appears in how I think about interfaces.
Learning, reading & exploring AI
Curiosity keeps my design practice moving. Continuous learning helps me question familiar methods, understand new possibilities and decide which tools genuinely improve the work. I am particularly interested in how AI can accelerate exploration without replacing product judgement.
Spirituality, meditation & gratitude
Calm improves how I listen. Meditation and gratitude help me slow down enough to notice context, emotion and nuance. That practice influences how I work with users and teams: listen before assuming, understand before reacting, and make decisions with greater intention.
